What’s open on Good Friday and Easter in Australia
As Easter approaches, you may be excited to go egg hunting and are probably planning for activities during the long weekend. Whether you're craving for a delicious meal, looking for entertainment, or just the essential services, it’s important to keep in mind that most venues will be closed or operating at shorter hours during this weekend.
Good Friday
Being a public holiday most places are closed on Good Friday. This includes Australian retailers like Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Bunnings and Big W. So plan ahead and get your shopping done by Thursday night.
If you are looking for a drink, unfortunately due to liqour trading laws there’s a restriction of sale of booze over the easeter period, so make ssure you stock up in advance.
Major cinema chains will be open if you are looking to have a movie day/night.
Food delivery services will be available at all times but with a reduced selection of restaurants. Smaller businesses and restaurants will likely be open, make sure to call to check as the times might not be updated on google trading hours.
Easter Period
Saturday and Sunday
Almost all stores will be open on Saturday and Sunday with an exception of a handful stores in certain locations. Stores that are open will be operating at holiday hours so make sure you check their trading hours as it may vary from state to state.
Smaller businesses, cafes and restaurants will likely be open and so will most bottle shops.
Monday
All major stores and smaller businesses will be open on Easter Monday.
Bottle shops and petrol stations will also be open on Monday as well so you are good to go egg hunting and celebrate the spirit of easter.
